Sensex closes 79 points down, Nifty settles below 9,900

The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty were trading down on Thursday as there was a lack of fresh triggers after the Reserve Bank of India kept rates unchanged in a move that was widely expected.

The BSE Sensex closed 79.68 points down at 31,592.03 while the NSE Nifty closed 26.20 points down at 9,888.70.

The top three Sensex gainers were NTPC (+1.79%), Coal India (+1.11%) and M&M (+.0.85%).

The top three Sensex losers were Power Grid (-1.99%), ICICI Bank (-1.54%) and Heromotoco (-0.97%).

The top three Nifty gainers were Auro Pharma (+2.66%), Ambuja Cement (+1.93%) and NTPC (+1.40%).

The top three Nifty losers were Tech Mahindra (-3.24%), Infratel (-2.87%) and Power Grid (-1.94%).
