Assam to start an Industrial Training Institute exclusively for the disabled
Assam, the north-eastern state of the country has managed to create an history in empowering the disabled people.
It has become the first state in India to start an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) exclusively for the disabled people.
The ITI will be set up in the five bighas of land available at the empty space within Dibrugarh ITI complex. The project is expected to cost around Rs 5.5 crore in the first stage of construction, which will also take care of the special needs of the disabled people.
The ITI will have 60 seats for three different professions, which are computer operator and programming assistant, cutting and sewing technology and hair and skin care.
The idea is to promote inclusion, empower the disabled to be the equal partners in nation building and give them a life of respect.
