Madras University failed to hire disabled teachers under quota

The Madras University has been found to have ignored the 3% quota for disabled while hiring teachers.

Recently, the seats reserved for students with disabilities in the university was increased from 3% to 5%.

However, the recruitment of disabled teachers has not been made as per the 3% reservation.

The situation is similar in other universities across Tamil Nadu as well.

In 2014, the Madras university did a huge recruitment of 95 professors but not even one post was filled by people with disabilities PWDs.

The issue has now been raised by an RTI. The government has been informed about the error and is expected to look into the matter.
