Asha Bhavan opens its centre in Goa for disabled women
Asha Bhavan, home for the senior disabled women and those in distress, has opened its first branch in Goa.
The home is supported by a charitable organisation and has its centres in Kerala, Mumbai and Mangalore.
The idea is to provide help and care to women with physical and mental disabilities and women in distress to live a respectful and secured life.
The organisation is a concept and a dream of a social worker Sister Lincy Cherian who saw many such people facing various difficulties, while she was working for disabled children in a Tamil Nadu village.
The home provides medical facilities, sick rooms with all required facilities, doctors’ visits and more.
It also teaches disabled women to make handicrafts, tailoring and counsels them to make them independent and move on with their lives.
