International Stuttering Awareness Day - ISAD

22 October is celebrated as the International Stuttering Awareness Day - ISAD. This was started in 1998 by the International Stuttering Association.

The day aims to sensitize people about the speech disorder of stuttering or stammering.

It is important to know that this should be treated as a disorder and not as something funny.

Due to the disorder, people may not be able to speak clearly and may take pauses when they are unable to produce sounds.

The day is used for various activities such as public awareness events, a media campaign, educational activities and online resources about Stuttering.

An online conference takes place through the month about Stuttering and people are invited to be a part of it to gain more information.
