Kerala project aims to encourage creativity in disabled students

The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in Kozhikode, Kerala is introducing a new project titled ‘Sargam’ to encourage creative skills among disabled students.

The project will be started in partnership with the Kerala Lalitakala Akademi, Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Akademi, and the Kerala Sahitya Akademi.

The idea was thought about after it was found that there are many disabled children who can write, sing, act and draw but they don’t get a platform to display their skills and grow.

The project will include 72 disabled children from class 1 to class 8.

Camps for disabled children having interest in theatre, literature and music will be held to improve their self-confidence and survival skills.
