Cochlear operation of poor deaf kids being carried out

Union minister Krishan Pal Gurjar said that cochlear implant surgeries of poor deaf children are being carried out in the country.

The government is spending around Rs six lakh on each child and 800 deaf children have been covered under the scheme. Any deaf child who wants to take benefit of the scheme can contact the office of deputy commissioner in district concerned.

In a recent programme held in Haryana, the minister also distributed artificial limbs and equipment to 1,611 senior citizens and 208 physically disabled persons.

He also said that 100 buildings of 50 towns in the country have been identified and included under ‘Sugam Bhawan’ scheme.

Also, ramps are being made on the airports, bus stations, railway stations and government buildings to make it accessible for the physically disabled people and senior citizens.
