Here’s how deaf people can soon communicate with Dubai Police
Dubai Police plans to introduce different types of smart devices to help improve its communication with the deaf community.
One among them is a wireless, sign language electronic translation glove called ‘Deaf’s Dream Smart Glove’ which the police came across in April this year.
At present, the developers are working on the prototype of the wireless one-handed smart glove system which translates 26 letters and commonly used words of the American Sign Language into text and speech.
The device can later be viewed on a smartphone or computer and will also be made available through Bluetooth using a developed mobile app.
The idea behind introducing the technology into the Dubai Police Smart Services Centres is to allow deaf people to report their issues to the police directly and independently.
