Onion prices are on a rise

The price of onion has gone up by around 100% in just one week in Andhra Pradesh.

Earlier, the farmers were protesting that the prices were too low. However, the prices are now bringing tears to the eye of consumers.

The onion were selling for Rs 20- Rs 25 a kg in the retail market a week ago, now the cost has gone upto Rs 50 per kg.

As per reports, the price may rise further in the coming weeks.

The reason behind the price rise is the floods and heavy rain in Kurnool, which is the largest producer of onions in the state.
