People in India lack awareness of brain stroke, says study
A new study says that brain stroke is the second most common cause of death after cancer.
It shows there is a need for more awareness, timely treatment and stroke departments in every district hospital in the country.
As per the study, not more than a thousand people go through thrombolysis every year although lakhs of people in the country suffer from brain strokes.
Thrombolysis is a treatment to remove dangerous clots in blood vessels, improve blood flow, and prevent damage to tissues and organs.
The research also points out that brain stroke patients need to be taken to the hospital immediately in the first hour of getting a stroke and not to a clinic or a dispensary.
