Make eye donation a family practice to prevent blindness
Around 1.1 million people in India suffer from corneal blindness and 25,000 new cases are added every year, says a report.
Almost 80% of blindness is avoidable as 60% of it is because of cataract and 20% of it is due to refractive errors.
Cataract has a cure with surgery and refractive errors can be treated with a simple pair of glasses.
Corneal blindness can be treated by replacing the damaged cornea with a healthy human cornea and this can be done through eye donation.
If eye donation is increased in India, there will be zero waiting list for corneal transplant.
To achieve this, make eye donation a part of the family tradition and help the blind see the beautiful world.
