Mumbai bakery run by and for people with intellectual disabilities

Sangeetha Chakrapani, Founder of Together, launched a bakery shop in Andheri in Mumbai which is run by and for people with intellectual disabilities and autism.

The shop is attached to a vocational training centre for people with autism and intellectual disabilities between 14 and 30 years of age.

The bakery has a chef, and a team of students work in different capacities depending on their skill-levels.

The programme is divided into four parts: the kitchen, personal hygiene, how to manage free time, and work.

The initiative provides a supportive environment to the students with intellectual disabilities and autism to interact and improve their communication skills and make a living.
