Lifts, ramps will be set up at 45 government offices in Visakhapatnam

Union Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar said that a total of 45 government offices in Visakhapatnam will have lifts and ramps in a timed manner.

The government has approved an amount of Rs 73 lakh for providing lifts at the offices to make it accessible for the senior citizens and physically disabled under the Accessible India campaign.

Gurjar also said that the central government was in the process of introducing ‘universal identity cards’ for the identification of disabled people all over India.

So far, 1,000 deaf children from poor families have been given hearing aids in Andhra Pradesh.

Also, tricycles, wheelchairs and other assisted devices were given to poor senior citizens and physically disabled people for free by the government.
