PM of Italy visits India after 10 years
The Prime Minister of Italy Paolo Gentiloni, has arrived in India on an official visit. This is the first visit of an Italian PM in India in the last 10 years.
In 2007 Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi had visited India.
The current visit is aimed at making the relationship between India and Italy stronger and better.
The diplomatic relations between the two countries had suffered a setback in 2012 when a pair of Italian marines had killed two Indian fishermen off the coast of Kerala.
Italy is India’s fifth largest trading partner and during his visit, PM Paolo Gentiloni is expected to work on improving the political and economic ties.
