Use of pain drug in pregnancy related with ADHD

A new study says that women who use a lot of acetaminophen during pregnancy may be more likely to have children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Acetaminophen, also known as paracetamol is a common medicine used to reduce pain and treat fever, infections.

The research was done on around 113,000 children and their parents. It also included 2,246 kids who were identified with ADHD.

It found that almost half of the mothers took the medicine at some time during pregnancy.

Women who used the medicine for 22 to 28 days were at more risk to have kids with ADHD. This is compared with mothers who did not use the medicine during pregnancy.
