Uber introduces services for the disabled, elderly in Bengaluru
App-based taxi company Uber has started two services called UberASSIST and UberACCESS in Bengaluru.
The idea aims to address the travel needs of the elderly and disabled users.
The two new services have been introduced jointly with IT Services company Mphasis.
500 cabs and 50 vans in Bengaluru are added with accessible features for easy entry and exit of riders in wheelchairs.
The services will be made available in more cities all over the country soon.
The company has also provided drivers with special training to help disabled and elderly riders.
Drivers will help disabled and elderly riders to store their foldable wheelchairs within the boot of the cab.
