Study may have found the key to help get rid of bad memories
Traumatic or bad memories come in all shapes and sizes. Some are very difficult ones to forget like being raped, beaten, or shot. Others are based on the pain of watching the sufferings of a loved one.
Researchers from a university in England have found a way to help get rid of bad memories.
They have identified an important chemical with the memory region of the brain that allows messages to pass between nerve cells.
It is known as GABA and its release within the brain can have an important role in stopping thoughts.
The study considers this as a new possibility and not as a treatment to put the chemical into use.
