Kerala to have a mental health action plan soon
The government of Kerala will prepare a mental health action plan to address the problems of its people.
Health Minister K.K. Shylaja announced the number of depression clinics will be increased from 35 to 150.
The move has come after a survey done in select areas in the state found that number of people suffering from depression is on the rise.
So far, around 265 school health nurses were appointed in schools and day care centres were set up in many districts.
After these health nurses are trained in counselling, the officials plan to recruit 250 more nurses to take care of the mental health of the schoolchildren in the state.
