PCOS increases risk of mental health issues in women
A new study says that Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) may have a negative effect on women's mental health.
PCOS is a hormonal disorder which affects 5 to 10% of women all over the world.
It leads to increased male hormone levels and causes reduced fertility, irregular periods, more facial and body hair, and acne.
The researchers suggest women should be regularly checked for mental health disorders during medical tests.
It can help to find and treat the mental health issue early and improve the quality of life.
For the study, researchers went through the mental health history of over 17,000 women diagnosed with PCOS.
