Sensex closes 151 points down, Nifty settles below 10,400

The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty were trading low on Wednesday because of heavy selling in metal, oil & gas, realty and PSU shares.

Also, there were concerns among investors if India's central bank would hold off on cutting interest rates.

The BSE Sensex closed 151.95 points down at 33,218.81 while the NSE Nifty closed 47.00 points down at 10,303.15.

The top three Sensex gainers were Axis Bank (+3.41%), Asian Paint (+2.51%) and Cipla (+2.07%).

The top three Sensex losers were Bharti Airtel (-3.73%), Tata Motors (-2.92%) and SBI India (-2.35%).

The top three Nifty gainers were Tech Mahindra (+4.14%), Axis Bank (+3.91%) and Asian Paint (+2.33%).

The top three Nifty losers were Vedanta Ltd (-3.65%), Bharti Airtel (-3.51%) and Tata Motors (-2.51%).
