Mobile connections will not be disconnected, says DoT

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has clarified that mobile numbers that are not linked to Aadhaar will not be disconnected.

The department made this statement as the government has set a deadline of February 2018 to link mobile phone numbers to the Aadhaar numbers of the subscribers.

DoT says that the matter is still pending in the Supreme Court and no decision has been finalized yet.

The Supreme Court has set the date of 13 November to hear and decide the Aadhaar-mobile linking case.

UIDAI has also informed that from 1 December mobile subscribers can re-verify their numbers by using One Time Password – OTP, without going to mobile phone galleries.
