RBI orders easy banking facilities for senior citizens & disabled people

The Reserve Bank of India has given out the order to make the banks convenient for senior citizens and disabled people in the country.

The order states that banks have to implement the instructions given by the RBI by 31 December 2017.

As per the order of RBI, banks have to open a separate counter at branches for senior citizens and people with disabilities.

The updating of life certificate at any branch of a pension paying bank should be done promptly. The day to day banking facilities should be available to the elderly and disabled people easily.

The banks have also been asked to make arrangements for providing basic banking facilities at homes to customers who can not come to the bank, such as senior citizens over 70 years of age and disabled people with chronic illness or disability.
