Lead content in Braille affects blind kids, petition tells court

A visually impaired lawyer has demanded Calcutta high court to give an order to replace all lead-made braille prints with plastic ones.

Snigdha Acharya who is studying medicine law included a survey in her petition.

The survey shows that blind students using braille scripts with high lead content suffer from problems of lack of sleep, lack of desire to eat food, stomach issues and loss of memory.

As per the report by the National Test House, braille scripts have 98.11% lead content. It is a major health problem for the blind, says the petition.
