Telangana government introduces initiatives for elderly and the disabled
The government of Telangana is coming up with new programmes and projects to help elderly and disabled people live a healthy and inclusive life.
One such project is giving all deaf students smartphones costing around Rs 8,000 each.
The phones would be 4G enabled to help them talk in sign language using video calls.
Last month, the state government increased the loan scheme given to disabled people from the existing Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh to start small businesses.
The state government also plans to start senior citizens' committees in all the 31 districts to look after the work of the old age homes in the state.
