Meet Odisha’s first disabled administrative officer Sanyasi Behera
Sanyasi Behera is the first visually impaired person from Odisha to join Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) as the trainee officer.
Behera is doing the whole office work through Braille script.
Despite 100% blindness, Behera fought against all odds in life. He holds a graduate degree in Arts.
Earlier, there was no provision made for blind candidates to appear in OAS exam organised by Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC).
Behera requested before the state commission for persons with disabilities and got a chance to appear the civil exams.
He became the first disabled person to crack the civil services exam in 2015.
He is also the topper among eight visually impaired and five hearing impaired candidates, who cleared the exam.
