Meet the first transgender to join Rajasthan Police

24 years old Ganga Kumari is set to become Rajasthan's first and India's third transgender to join the state police force.

Kumari lives in Jalore district of Rajasthan. She gave police recruitment examination for constables in 2013.

But the police department stopped her appointment in 2015 because she was a transgender.

Kumari did not give up and fought a legal battle.

Recently, Rajasthan High Court told the state to appoint Kumari in the state police within six weeks.

This is as per the rule by the Supreme Court to recognize transgenders as third gender and provide them reservations in education and jobs.
