Election Commission bans use of ‘Pappu’ in campaign
Gujarat Election Commission - EC has put a ban on the use of the name ’Pappu’ by the BJP during its campaign.
The Bharatiya Janata Party’s poll campaign TV advertisement, feature an individual named ‘Pappu’ and that has now been banned by the EC.
As per the letters written by the Election Commission to the BJP, the name ‘Pappu’ in advertisements refers indirectly to Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi.
The Election Commission found that it cannot allow this usage.
The Bharatiya Janata Party is opposed to the decision of the Election Commission to ban the said ads and will appeal against the order.
