Anxiety disorders are slowly growing across India and they are more prevalent in cities as compared to small towns and villages.
This information was revealed by the first state-level disease charts published in The Lancet last week for India.
The chart shows that anxiety disorders were at the 40th place in 1990, it went up to the 26th place in 2016.
Anxiety disorders affect the mental health of a person in various forms such as panic attacks and obsessive compulsive disorders, depression.
These can lead to severe disabilities over time and affect the quality of life of a person.
