Telugu compulsory in Telangana schools

The Telangana government has ordered that all schools in the state will make Telugu as a compulsory subject from next year.

The order is for all the public and private schools in the state.

As per reports, the CBSE and ICSE board authorities have not objected to the order and are fine with the decision.

Telangana Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao had said earlier that schools will not be allow to operate in the state if they do not teach Telugu.

Special textbooks are in progress for students who are non-Telugu, and for those who will study Telugu for the first time in Class VI.
