Shiv Sena supports man behind Mumbai beach clean up campaign
Afroz Shah, a lawyer and environmentalist who led a large people's movement to collect garbage from Mumbai's famous Versova Beach has received support from the Shiv Sena.
Mumbai beach clean up campaign suspended indefinitely
This is after Shah said that his campaign had failed because he did not get the support of the civic authorities and that his volunteers were harassed by many people.
In 2015, Shah launched an initiative to clean up Mumbai's largest beach and was able to get the support of 12,000 volunteers, who he recruited through social media and a door-to-door campaign.
Now Aditya Thackeray, leader of the Shiv Sena, said that he has met with Shah and requested him not to stop his efforts. He has promised support from the police and his party workers.
