Cancer medicines to become cheaper now
The prices of 51 essential medications have been put under a standard pricing limit.
This has been announced by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority – NPPA.
The 51 important drugs include the medicines used in the treatment of cancer, pain, heart conditions and skin problems.
The prices are expected to come down by a margin of 6% to 53%.
The companies that are selling the medicines at higher prices will have to reduce the prices immediately.
The regulator has also announced that for drugs that are not under price control, companies are allowed to increase the maximum retail price by 10 percent per year.
