Martyn Riley, champion weightlifter with autism, shows the path to power & independence
Martyn Riley, a weightlifter from the United Kingdom is autistic and he hopes to encourage others with autism to take part in sports.
Martyn travels alone for all his competitions
Martyn is the first person diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder to compete, referee and finish first in their class in a major international weightlifting match. He won a title in the European and International Masters Championships in Sweden this year. He also refereed in two categories.
Martyn says he is very proud of the fact that he was able to travel from the UK to Sweden independently, and that he was able to achieve so much for his country and people with autism.
He has broken numerous Northern England Masters weightlifting records and is a four-time reigning British champion over three different age groups and has won multiple regional titles.
