Gangster Dawood Ibrahim depressed over son's decision to become religious teacher
Underworld gangster Dawood Ibrahim, who is wanted in India for the 1993 Mumbai blasts, is apparently suffering from severe depression over a family problem that he is not able to resolve.
His third child, and only son, Moin, has refused to continue with the family business and has chosen to become a maulana, or a religious teacher.
Moin is believed to be against his father's illegal activities, which has given the entire family a bad reputation worldwide, says a senior Mumbai policeman.
This information was revealed after his younger brother Ibrahim Kaskar was arrested in Thane. Dawood and his other brother Anees Ibrahim Kaskar are now ageing and no close relatives are available to take over the business.
Moin has also given up the family comforts and lives simply in a mosque. His wife and three children also live with him.
His main religious activities are that of teaching Holy Quran and Islamic preachings to young children.
