Being overweight in pregnancy can mean higher risk of autism

A recent study has found that an overweight mother can out her newborn baby at the risk of developing autism or behavioural problems.

The study found that the autism risk increased up to 36% and Attention Deficit Disorder Association – ADHD risk increased up to 62% for the babies of overweight women.

The chances of having a child with any kind of neurodevelopmental disorders is also higher if the mother is overweight when pregnant.

The research recommends that pregnant women should avoid putting on more than necessary weight and follow an active lifestyle during the preganancy.
