Mumbai gets record rain in 10 years, Ockhi storm moves to Gujarat
Mumbai and nearby areas faced heavy rains through the day on Tuesday under the effects of Cyclone Ockhi.
Schools and colleges had been closed by the government as a precaution considering the bad weather conditions.
As per the weather department, Mumbai received its highest 24-hour rainfall in December in the last 10 years on Tuesday.
Mumbai recorded 11.4 mm rainfall while the earlier record was of 31.4 mm in December 1967.
The cyclone has now moved towards Gujarat and warnings have been issued for the coastal areas.
Election rallies planned by BJP and Congress have been cancelled due to the weather.
