Aadhaar issued to woman without eyes and hands

The UIDAI has issued Aadhaar card to a 65 year old Bengaluru woman without the biometrics verification required for registration.

The woman is a leprosy patient and has lost her hands and vision due to the disease.

The woman, named Sajida Begum needed the Aadhaar card so that she can continue to receive her monthly welfare pension.

UIDAI authorities made an exception for her as she could not give the verification through the biometrics of her iris and fingerprints.

Sajida Begum has been living at the Leprosy Hospital in Bengaluru.

She gets an amount of Rs 1,000 as pension every month and that had stopped four months ago as she didn’t have Aadhaar card.
