Canola oil related to Alzheimer’s disease, says study
A research has found that canola oil could be a factor in the development of Alzheimer’s disease.
The canola oil is extracted from the rapeseeds and is normally considered a healthy oil.
It is used as a vegetable oil for cooking as well as for industrial uses.
The Research in USA was conducted on two groups of mice.
One group was given normal diet and the other was given an extra two tablespoons of canola oil daily.
Canola Oil affected memory of lab mice
After 6 months it was found that Mice that consumed canola oil showed a reduced memory. The study states that long term use of the oil can cause brain impairment.
More study is being done to understand if the oil is responsible for causing other neurodegenerative diseases apart from Alzheimer’s disease.
