What is Dysthymia?
Depression has different levels of severity. One can feel so depressed that even getting out of bed seems to be a huge task for them.
Dysthymia is a mild but long-term form of depression. It is same as the common cold when one is sick. It makes one feel down and has the same cognitive and physical problems as depression.
Symptoms of dysthymia are having a perfectionist attitude, being highly critical of oneself and not feeling inspired, excited and happy for a long period of time.
The perfectionist in someone can make them too much occupied with doing things correctly and more critical of themselves to live up to the expectations of others.
Understand that depression doesn't have to be same or look the same for everyone. Know that you are not alone and there are people who want to care and help, it's just a matter of finding them.
