5% reservation for disabled people in Bihar

The Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Sushil Kumar Modi, has said that, the state government would provide 5% reservation to disabled persons for admission in schools and other educational institutes.

He also announced that the government will also set up a separate department for the welfare of people with disabilities.

The department will focus on resolving the problems of people with disabilities and also implement the government schemes launched for PwD.

Sushil Kumar Modi was taking part in the 18th foundation day function of Bharat Vikas Viklang Punarvas Kendra cum Sanjay Anand Viklang Aspatal Evam Research Centre in Patna.

The government will also hold special camps at the block level where disability certificates will be given out.

Out of the 30-50 lakh people, who reported disability in Bihar during the 2011 Census, around 14 lakh have received disability certificates so far.

Dedicated Hospital for disabled in Patna

Viklang Hospital at Kankarbagh in Patna will soon be set up 'dedicated hospital' for the treatment of disabled people.

There are plans to provide it with all necessary manpower, equipment and other facilities.
