Mumbai air quality was worse than Delhi this week
The air quality in Mumbai became worse than Delhi on Sunday, 17 December.
This was the second time in a year that air pollution levels in Mumbai went higher than Delhi.
The air quality index - AQI for Mumbai was 244, while Delhi recorded 204 during the day that further fell to 183 later.
AQI of 244 is considered very poor quality of air.
As per experts, this is expected at this time of the year.
Although temperature is not very low in Mumbai, but due to high humidity and low wind speed, pollutants are not dispersed from the city’s air making it more polluted.
While Delhi experienced high wind speed that moves the pollutants away and makes air better.
The high level of air pollution can affect the health of people who are sensitive to bad air.
