Odisha government starts free diagnostics from next year

Odisha government has announced that from 1 January all government hospitals will offer free diagnostic services to patients.

Kidney patients will also be provided free dialysis facilities most of the headquarters hospitals.

The Chief Minister of the state, Naveen Patnaik said that diagnostic services will be free to all patients in the state-run hospitals under a new scheme called 'NIDAAN.'

More free services to be added later

Also by March more free services will also be introduced such as additional high-end pathology tests, digital x-ray, CT scan and MRI.

District headquarters hospitals across Odisha will offer 64 types of tests free of cost.

The government has decided to keep a budget of 600 rupees for the expenses on the scheme.

The government has also given out computer tablets to nurses and housewives working at the grassroot level for better reporting and data keeping bout basic healthcare.
