Mumbai civic body takes action against illegal structures after Kamala Mills fire accident
After the fire at the rooftop restaurant in Mumbai’s posh area, Kamala Mills, claimed 14 lives, the civic officials have stirred into action.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation - BMC initiated a huge demolition drive on Saturday and demolished illegal structures in at least 100 restaurants and pubs in Mumbai.
Around 1,000 officials and employees of the civic body took part in the drive to take action against places that had illegal extensions and constriuctions.
The fire on Thursday claimed lives of 14 people who could not escape due to lack of fire and safety precautions.
The BMC had suspended 5 of its officials the next day for failing to take action.
Police cases have also been filed against the restaurant owners.
