Deaf and mute Pakistani boy sent back home

The 12 year old speech and hearing impaired Pakistani boy who had been arrested by Indian authorities last year has been sent back home.

The boy was kept in a juvenile home in Punjab's Faridkot district after he had strayed into Indian territory around seven months ago.

The boy identified as Hasnain was handed over to the Pakistani authorities at the Attari-Wagah international border in Punjab.

BSF had found the boy wandering near the border in May 2017 and a Rs 20 Pakistani currency note was recovered from him.

He did not have any IDs or documents with him at the time. His return was finalized once his identity was ascertained by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
