Elderly can get Aadhaar verified online with BSNL
Telecom company BSNL has started rolling out Aadhaar-based online verification of mobile connections for non-resident Indians, senior citizens above 70 years and the physically disabled.
In a statement, the company said
"BSNL has introduced simplified re-verification process for...NRI, senior citizens, and physically challenged persons. This web-based application can be used from the comfort of home".
The service is available for people over the age of 70 years as on 1 January, 2018. This also includes people with physical disabilities and non-resident Indians who do not have Aadhaar number or have the biometric ID but their mobile number is not registered with the Unique Identification Authority of India.
The customer in the eligible category can re-verify his mobile number through the company's website where the link for the process is given. He has to enter his existing mobile number and then the one-time password sent on that number.
Once the online process is complete, the details will be sent for verification.
Once approved, an SMS will be sent to the customer about successful completion of re-verification process, as per the details available on BSNL website.
