Former cricketer Syed Kirmani takes back decision to donate eyes
Former Indian wicketkeeper and batsman Syed Kirmani had made a promise to donate his eyes after meeting with the Indian Blind Men Cricket team in Bengaluru, before they left to play the Blind World Cup in Dubai.
Kirmani, who was a part of the 1983 World Cup-winning Indian team member attended an awareness campaign on eye donation organised in Chennai where he announced that everyone should donate their eyes like he had decided. He also asked more celebrities to come forward and take up the cause.
But, the 68-year later said he could not donate his eyes due to certain religious values. He also said that this should not stop others. He said he was inspired to donate after meeting with the blind cricket team.
