Jemimah Rodrigues, recent entrant into women's cricket team player, battled depression for years
Mumbai resident Jemimah Rodrigues is making news after she was selected for the Indian women's cricket team squad that will play three matches against South Africa in February. The 17-year-old has been selected for the first time in the Mithali Raj-led 16-member team and is the youngest of all the players.
However, she went through a lot of struggle before this happy moment. Two years ago, she was suffering from depression and was low in confidence. She says she was able to come out of this after turning to the Bible for counsel.
The spirituality helped boost her confidence and she scored a half century in the third match of the Zonal Cricket Academy series. Soon, she was selected into the India 'A' team for the series against Bangladesh. In the recent Challenger Trophy, she emerged as the third highest run-getter with 179 runs in three matches for India Green. "
