National Cricket Tournament for Blind begins in Chandigarh

The National Cricket Tournament for Blind started at Panchkula from 18 January to 21 January at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium.

Various teams of blind cricket players will take part in the tournament from across the country.

Eight teams from the states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Punjab, West Bengal, Odisha and Chandigarh -- will participate in the event.

An 11-member team will include players of B1, B2 and B3 categories.

As per the rules of blind cricket, bowlers will be allowed to bowl underarm and the players of B3 categories will play after being blindfolded.

The Blind cricket teams in India are still striving to receive the recognition from the Sports Ministry and the BCCI.

The cricket players with visual impairments need financial support and guidance to perform well and stay in the game.
