Depression could be early sign of dementia: says study

Dementia is a brain related disorder and exists in various forms. It affects millions of people across the world.

Some of the main symptoms of dementia include memory loss, mood changes and confusion.

These are indicative of some diseases like Alzheimer’s disease or some other brain conditions. So far there are no cures for these disease.

However, timely detection can help in managing the conditions in a better manner through medications and care.

As per experts apart from memory loss, irritability and depression may also be the signs that the brain is degrading.

The researchers did a study for seven years on 2,416 patients, all over the age of 49. The health of these people was observed to find the early indicators of dementia.

The study showed a link between depression and Alzheimer’s disease.
