Delhi HC orders posting policy for soldiers with disabled dependents

The Delhi High Court has asked the Centre government to make a policy regarding the posting of armed forces personnel who have disabled dependents.

The court gave the order in response to three Petitions filed by R.K. Pandey, Syed Shahid Wahid and Jitender Singh.

The court has stated that the government has to show consideration to soldiers who have to take care of their family members with disabilities.

The court observed that for soldiers who are caregivers should not be posted at far off locations, as they need to look after their disabled relatives and kin.

The government has been given a time limit of six weeks to come up with a posting policy that meets the needs of soldiers that are caregivers.

The court has also clarified that the new guidelines will be applicable to the posting of personnels in various divisions of the defense forces including the Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Central Industrial Security Force.
