Band of 28 blind students in Republic Day parade

28 students from the Institute for the Blind in Chandigarh are taking part in the Republic Day function.

The students are part of a band and are to play in the Republic Day parade.

The students will walk together playing instruments in the parade wearing checkered shirts and skirts with red velvet caps.

A special bamboo frame has been made with slots for each child so that they can walk without assistance.

The band consist of 18 girls and 10 boys from Moti Ram Arya School and have been practicing hard for the last two weeks.

The band has existed for almost a decade but this is the first time that the UT education department has invited them to participate in the Republic Day function.
